A new report published by the U.S. Government Accountability Office reaffirmed some concerns about the Joint Commission's relationship with its consulting subsidiary, Joint Commission Resources, though the commission itself views the report as validation of a job well done.
The GAO report, Hospital Accreditation: Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations' Relationship With Its Affiliate, doesn't identify a "smoking gun'' showing a direct conflict of interest between the Joint Commission and its not-for-profit consulting arm.
