Demanding more accountability from the Democrat-controlled Albany County government, Republicans have called for a state audit of county civic center finances as a result of plans to consider adding $3 million to the cost of the project.

The Albany County Republican Committee has written State Comptroller Edward V. Regan, asking him to audit the financing of the county civic center project. The cost is approaching $52 million.

The Republican leadership also demanded that county legislator Majority Leader Harold L. Joyce, D-Albany, resign as chairman of the county legislature's Civic Center Committee, ...
