Jan. 27--No, Destin's City Council did not turn golf carts into street-legal vehicles last year, Capt. Greg Gaddis of the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office says.
Although the council agreed in 2006 to take two years before adopting a city ban on golf carts, driving golf carts on streets or sidewalks is still illegal under Florida law, Gaddis said in an interview. But some cart owners apparently don't realize that.
"There's a lot of misconceptions," Gaddis said. "I can understand where the confusion comes from, it's about as clear as mud."
