KENNETT SQUARE, Pa. _ Speaking in front of 16 television cameras Monday at the University of Pennyslvania's New Bolton Center, Barbaro owner Gretchen Jackson put her day like this: "Certainly, grief is the price we all pay for love."
Gretchen Jackson grew up in Chestnut Hill, and she remembers being 3 when her lifelong love affair with horses began.
"My father used to take me to the Philadelphia Zoo, while my mother took my brother to church," she said last week.
Gretchen Jackson met her future husband, Roy, at a dance in Merion when they were in 11th grade. Roy Jackson grew up in Edgmont Township, Pa.
