When Betsy Barber scans a weight room and finds she's the only woman in sight, she throws up her well-defined arms in frustration.
It's not that Barber is uncomfortable or intimidated pumping iron next to male lifters. In fact, just the opposite is true this bodybuilder from Bellefonte, Pa., is a natural in the world of barbells and Nautilus machines.
The challenge Barber faces is convincing other women that they can lift weights, get stronger and feel younger without become muscle-bound spectacles.
Barber knows that if she could just get that message across, and if women could see how she has benefited from weight-lifting, the idea would catch on here.
