Microsoft, which loses megabucks on its Xbox boxes, is expected to make megabucks from the Xbox Live Video Marketplace, according to Emerging Media Dynamics, a strategic research and consulting firm. It predicts Marketplace revenues will top $92.2 million in 2007 and $726 million during 2011.
Microsoft uses its Xbox Live Video Marketplace to sell not just games but to deliver movies and TV shows directly to Xbox 360s for viewing on the TV set, bypassing the PC.
Movies are erased from the Xbox 360's drive after they have been viewed.
