Jan. 31--International Truck and Engine Corp. announced Tuesday it is reducing its work force at the company's Truck Development and Technology Center in Fort Wayne by about 140 employees.
Employees affected were notified of their status Tuesday. A majority of these employees will be leaving by Thursday. The remainder will leave in the next few months as projects are completed.
"This reduction was necessitated by the completion of major engineering programs, the downturn in the truck industry, and our efforts to be more cost-effective and efficient," said Rajiv Prasad, vice president of global product creation for International Truck and Engine.
