FAMILIES of young patients at Birmingham Children's Hospital were today promised a bigger say in its running after it won more freedom from Government control.
The pledge was made after the hospital won foundation status, which offers bosses more flexibility in the running of day-today services.
The award, announced today, ended an 18-month process which saw the hospital's standards assessed by a Government agency.
Announcing the decision, health minister Andy Burnham said: "I am delighted Birmingham Children's Hospital has achieved foundation status.
