Becky Gronczniak put back a rebound with six seconds left to play to give Mechanicville (10-5, 10-3) a 54-52 victory over Holy Names in Colonial Council girls' basketball action on Tuesday night in Albany.
Groncziak finished with 13 points and teammate Kelly Murphy led the Red Raiders with 23.
"They made some tough shots, including six 3-pointers, in the second half," said Holy Names coach Steve Gigliello. "We just did not convert in the fourth quarter."
Becky Staples topped Holy Names (12-4, 10-2) with 18 points and teammate Jessica Walton added 16.
