People often ask me what I do for a job and if I happen to tell them that I'm a marketer, they usually follow this with "so, what do you do ..."?
Fair enough, I assume, as there are a number of areas I might specialise in. However, in discussing the topic further it becomes apparent that it's 'Marketing' in general that has a big question mark next to it. So what the heck is marketing?
Simply put, it's the processes around finding, attracting and keeping customers. Marketing is the one and only business discipline dedicated to this, the very reason businesses exist! There are many different aspects to marketing, like product development, advertising, events, research ...
