Last December, the Labor Department requested comments on the effectiveness of the Family and Medical Leave Act. Employer and employee groups responded swiftly, indicating that 14 years after its enactment, FMLA remains a hot-button issue on both sides of the desk and - depending whom you ask - is due to be revamped or rolled back.
On the employer side, the Society for Human Resource Management applauded DOL's plans to revisit the law, and SHRM President Susan Meisinger called the move "welcomed news for both employers and employees.
