Computer retailer PC World has revealed that it will no longer sell floppy disk storage devices once its current stock is sold.

The company said only 2% of the PCs and laptops it sells at present include a floppy disk drive and confirmed these will be phased out by this summer. It claimed the disks are not able to compete with new storage systems and the demand for devices able to hold more than the 1.44MB of data like a standard 'floppy' can.
