Feb. 1--HARTFORD -- Greeting reporters yesterday at the start of a conference opposing gay marriage, Family Institute of Connecticut head Brian Brown said: "We're back." As many observers expected, the landmark civil-union legislation passed by the General Assembly in 2005 was a precursor to a bid to legalize gay marriage. Advocates on both sides of the issue returned yesterday to make their case. State Sen. Andrew McDonald, D-Stamford, and state Rep. Michael Lawlor, D-East Haven, co-chairmen of the Judiciary Committee, announced plans yesterday morning to introduce a "marriage equality" bill. The legislation would not have to be ...
