Feb. 1--NEWPORT NEWS -- As one of his first acts as the new publisher of the Daily Press, Digby A. Solomon plans to set out copies of the book "The Innovator's Dilemma."

The business best-seller describes how disruptive technology shakes up established industries -- something being learned by everyone in the newspaper business today.

Like its peers, the Daily Press has been adjusting to shrinking circulation and a fast-growing Internet business. So parent company Tribune Co. picked Solomon, a digital news veteran, to lead the newspaper as it speeds up a transition toward drawing more readers to the Web.
