Feb. 1--TIFFIN -- An area college with a German heritage figured it might be just the place for a Putnam County man with a German heritage.
Heidelberg College in Tiffin recently invited Manuel Bartsch to visit the campus with a promise of tuition assistance. The 19-year-old was nearly deported to his native Germany by federal immigration officials last year but ultimately was allowed to graduate from Pandora-Gilboa High School last spring. So far, he has not been able to enroll in college, though.
