Production of the BMW X6, a crossover model aimed at the Mercedes-Benz R-Class, has been all but confirmed -- but spy pictures of a new roadster have automotive industry tongues wagging in the United States.
Reports say BMW is making preparations at its US plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to build as many as 40,000 X6 crossovers a year.
Deliveries of the new model in the US are expected to begin next year, in spite of reports saying the X6 is two years away from production.
BMW currently uses the Spartanburg plant to build the new X5 sports utility vehicle and Z4 roadster. BMW already has begun hiring staff for X6 production at the plant. ...
