Feb. 1--Mohegan Sun said the new slots hall at its Pennsylvania harness track helped push core earnings up 4.2 percent to $94.8 million in the first quarter.
The racetrack, Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, opened its doors to slot-machine players on Nov. 14. Through the end of the quarter, the 1,099 games generated $21.8 million in revenue, or a daily average of $412 per machine, the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority said Wednesday.
"It was a smooth and successful opening, and well received," said Robert Soper, the president and chief executive of Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs. "The numbers have been strong thus far."
