Let's see now, the presidential campaign _ the one that is still just less than a year away from any actual votes _ already is producing a torrent of information, another rich and wonderful byproduct of our interconnected Internet world. Which would be fine, if only that information had the benefit of being true.

But truth is clearly the first casualty of the 2008 presidential campaign.

The information becomes so widespread that no one has a big enough fire hose to douse the fiction and spare the fact. And you can expect more, not less, of this as the campaign plays out.
