It starts as a volcanic ridge, stretching high above the surrounding country, capped by the Nagy-Milic mountain (2,682 feet). It winds down through woods, across ridges, through passes, by dark caves, and then across the breathtaking landscape of a land that at times seems to stretch to infinity, though it is by itself but a small speck on the planet. Many trails were once like this in America, before the land was covered with roads and speckled with industry. But, here in Hungary, the perception of virgin forest is retained on much of the trail called the "blue tour." This is a cross-country excursion of 2,000 km/1,250 miles.
