Hiking & Biking
Although most of the country is open to exploration, the Hortobagy National Park and the Kiskunsag National Park are protected reserves. Check with the Park offices for trails and permits. Many require that you use a guide, and the park offices (see Itineraries) and Tourinform (see Appendix) can provide contacts for English-speaking guides. Kiskunsag's excellent website (www.knpi.hu) has information about the primary hiking paths and educational study trails throughout Hungary, listed with appropriate contact addresses, phone numbers and directions.
