Background: Acute uterine bleeding is a common clinical presentation in nonpregnant women of reproductive age, and its optimal treatment is unclear. Surgical options include dilation and curettage, uterine artery embolization, and hysterectomy. Medical therapies include estrogen therapy, progestin therapy, or combination oral contraceptives.
