Feb. 2--Punta Gorda builders Jim Sanders and Larry Sandles have become the Charlotte County franchisees for Clearwater-based luxury builder Arthur Rutenberg Homes.
The deal, which has been brewing since last fall, involves a change of corporate identity for Sanders and Sandles, who formerly did business as SandStar Custom Homes.
A billboard facing the northbound lane of Tamiami Trail, just south of Aqui Esta Drive, went up on Thursday announcing the deal. The receptionist at the builders' offices at 1203 W. Marion Ave. is now answering the phone "Arthur Rutenberg Homes."
