The Oneida Public Library has been recognized as one of the best small libraries in the nation by the publication, Library Journal, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Oneida emerged from a group of more than 50 nominees to share runner-up honors with libraries in Hanover, N.H., and Austin, Texas. But it was the Grand County Library in Moab, Utah, that was crowned Library Journal's Best Small Library in America, an award that recognizes libraries that serve communities of fewer than 25,000.
The Gates Foundation will give the Moab library $15,000 in prize money.
