Campaigning in rural northeastern New Hampshire this week, former Gov. Mitt Romney was reminded of what it really takes to be a memorable politician.
During a speech at the Cabot Motor Lodge in Lancaster, N.H., one elderly man said he remembered when Romney's father, George, made a stop at The Balsams resort while campaigning in the Republican primary against former President Nixon.
What made the trip so memorable, the man relayed, was that the late Michigan governor brought with him a live elephant.
"It's amazing what we Romneys will do for a vote," Romney quipped.
We couldn't have said it better.
