I became dissatisfied with my pasture system, so after reading many articles on the new grasses available I decided to try some.
I live in southeastern North Carolina; the soil is acid, sandy and poor in general. The weather is hot, sometimes very dry, sometimes too much rain in the summer and mild in the winter. I had been planting tetraploid annual rye in winter and pearl millet in summer. (I raise sheep and goats.) I have one larger pasture about one-and-a-half acres and two half-acre pastures. I also graze the yard around the house.
