In a letter disclosing new concerns about Army readiness, Defense Secretary Perry urges Congress for cooperation next year in sustaining ready forces.

Perry asks Congress to ensure that operations and maintenance funding for core readiness is adequate and "to provide timely supplemental appropriations." The letter was sent Nov. 15 to Chairman of the House Appropriations Defense Subcommittee Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) and ranking minority member Rep. Joseph McDade (Pa.).
