Madison has a strong economy, but it cannot rest on its success. It must continue to attract and keep businesses to fast forward its economic growth.
With input from the business community, Madison Mayor Dave Cieslewicz proposed a smart economic development plan last year that moves the city in the right direction. He funded it with $1 million in his budget, which was approved by the City Council in November.
Now the City Council needs to vote Tuesday to release some of the money to put the strategies in gear.
The plan calls for:
Rewriting the city's outdated zoning code.
Developing a long-range development plan for Madison and a detailed master plan for ...
