Global consumer products concern Unilever has shown that it's PG tips tea improves mental focus in healthy human volunteers. The firm says that a normal cup of PG tips tea typically delivers 22mg of theanine, a naturally-occuring amino acid, of which tea is virtually the only dietary source apart from the edible bay boletes mushroom, noting that 50mg theanine - the amount present in two to three cups of PG tips tea - stimulates alpha brain waves which are associated with being relaxed yet alert.
