Feb. 6--Ownership of at least eight Rhode Island newspapers switched hands yesterday as the Journal Register Co. announced that it completed the sale of its operations here to a Delaware corporation.
The corporation, R.I.S.N. Operations Inc., paid $8.3 million in cash, including working capital, for the newspapers. That figure is higher than the $7.6 million Journal Register said it was getting when it first announced the sale 10 days ago.
No explanation was given for the increase, but Journal Register said originally that the sale price was subject to adjustment.
