Feb. 6--CLEVELAND, Tenn. -- Bradley County Sheriff Tim Gobble wants to put some inmates in the county jail to work by turning at least part of the facility into a workhouse.

"We can send inmates out to work on public property where they can mow the greenway, pick up litter along county roads and paint buildings,"

Sheriff Gobble said last week.

"Instead of watching TV, they could be out performing a public service, and the county could get some benefit."
