BELARUSIAN ECONOMY JUMPS 13% IN JAN
The Belarusian economy grew 13% in January, according o preliminary figures, Belarusian Prime Minister Sergei Sidorsky said at a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday.
Sidorsky said this was an impressive showing compared with last year, considering that "there were very difficult conditions for the government, local authorities and all who work in the real sector" last month. Sidorsky said that due to the higher cost of energy, "business fell short on a huge amount of money in oil refining, which went into the Russian budget in January."
