That's because pasta is back with a vengeance. The category took a clobbering when the Atkins craze hit about three years ago; sales plummeted some 6% as consumers avoided carbs and replaced them with proteins. However, consumption is now inching back up, aided by industry consolidation, a variety of different cuts and the introduction of better-for-you products.
