With each day that passes, researchers Sibongile Walaza and Jocelyn Moyes are one step closer to reaching their goal - and if they achieve it, they could save the lives of millions of women.
The two are among several scientists in South Africa and worldwide who are working to provide women with a way to protect themselves from HIV infection through microbicides, a gel-like substance that could prevent the virus from attaching or entering host cells in the body.
