NEW YORK - Attendance was moderate at last week's "Texbridge," the new name for the Turkish Fashion Fabric Exhibition held twice a year at the Grand Hyatt hotel in midtown Manhattan. "Our men's buyers made afternoon appointments," said Boris Bura of Altinyildiz, a very high-end mill that specializes in super 100s and above. "But we had some mystery shoppers this morning."
What did they want? Mostly spring-weight 60/40 wool/silk designs that average $14 a meter. Although buyers have also been asking for wool blends with a "techy" (as in synthetic) feel. "We don't understand this trend," said Bura. "But we'll make it."
