CANBERRA - The government is moving closer to a decision about whether to buy Boeing Super Hornet bombers from the US to fill a possible defence gap in Australian skies.
The US Defence Department today formally notified Congress of an Australian proposal to acquire 24 of the advanced jets in a deal worth $US3.1 billion ($A4 billion).
