Wedgwood, Stoke-on-Trent, England, has introduced a new method for bone china production to reach its goals of achieving greater efficiency in production and the highest possible level of quality in the finished product.
The method is dry isostatic pressing similar to that used in the tile industry. Clay slip is converted into fine granules by spray drying. The granules are then hydraulically pressed between a metal die and a polymeric diaphragm into flatware shapes.
