Train ticket scalpers move online
Shanghai. February 8. INTERFAX-CHINA - Unauthorized sellers of train tickets, known as "huangniu" in China, have moved their business online and are selling the tickets on popular Web sites such as Taobao and Tianya in anticipation of the approaching Chinese New Year.
Some sellers have posted on Taobao saying they have a number of "hot" tickets, namely train tickets running between large cities such as Shanghai, Guangzhou and Beijing in the three days before the Chinese New Year, the peak time for Chinese people to return to their hometowns.
