Anew format that bridges audio CDs and interactive video is attempting to succeed at retail where music video has failed.
This was one topic discussed by a panel on "Creating Software for Multimedia" at the recent Billboard Music Video Conference.
The panelists considered the potential benefits of CD+, a format to be introduced either late this year or early next year. The format--which will allow audio CDs to have visual components, such as music videos, line notes and videotaped interviews--is being hailed as the next progression in CD technology. The disc will be playable on CD-ROM drives and audio CD players.
