Feb. 9--Two Saratoga County students wowed judges in a prestigious national science competition. One examined the very mechanism by which we recognize ourselves. The other monitored the effects of antidepressants on fruit flies. Both found some surprising results. Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School senior Elizabeth Allocco and Schuylerville High senior Amy Baker were among 300 national semifinalists in the Intel Science Talent Search. The national competition had more than 1,700 entrants, and its grand prize, nicknamed the "junior Nobel Prize," includes a $100,000 college scholarship.
