There's another whiff of private equity in Bryant Park.
On Wednesday morning, Richard Baker and Christina Johnson of NRDC Equity Partners were seated in the front row of the Peter Som show at the tents, fueling speculation that NRDC is close to investing in the designer's business. Baker is NRDC's president and chief executive officer; Johnson is a partner and managing director of retail and consumer investments and a former Saks Fifth Avenue chairman and ceo. They were unavailable for comment Wednesday.
Som, with an estimated $5 million to $7 million in sales, would be a drop in the bucket for NRDC. The equity firm owns ...
