09 FEBRUARY 2007 CANBERRA (Pacnews) - Australias foreign affairs minister Alexander Downer has taken the unusual step of writing directly to the people of Solomon Islands to express his grave concern about the state of the relationship between Solomon Islands and Australia, Solomon Star reports.
In his letter to the people of Solomon Islands, Mr Downer said people have the right to know the plain facts of what is happening in the relationship and, in particular, the current attempts being made to undermine Australia and the Pacific regions efforts to help Solomon Islands through the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI).
