Electronic monitoring of inmates is nothing new, but experts say home incarceration is underused -- especially considering advances in technology.
That could be changing in Dane County, already a statewide innovator in inmate diversion and treatment programs.
After a recent visit to La Crosse County, which a year ago became the first in Wisconsin to close its work-release jail and expand electronic monitoring and other diversion programs, Dane County officials are encouraged by the prospect of doing the same.
