ARNHEM, The Netherlands--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 10, 1994--Akzo Nobel NV (NASDAQ:AKZOY) and Rhone Poulenc have decided to suspend negotiations on cooperation in the field of soda ash manufacture.
Earlier this year the two companies had announced their intention of forming a joint venture combining their European soda interests. Akzo Nobel was to contribute its Delfzijl soda ash facility and was to have a one-third share in the joint venture.
The intent to cooperate was prompted by the ongoing restructuring of the European soda ash market. Although the arguments for the joint venture have not changed, the two parties ultimately were unable to find a ...
