Not many people know that James Amine, Credit Suisse's London-based co-head of global leveraged finance, started his professional life as an attorney.
"I spent five years at a law firm in New York, working on a lot of hostile takeover battles and LBO financings," Amine said. "After working closely with bankers, I quickly realized it was the far more interesting side of the business."
Although he made the switch, Amine's legal background gave him a real appreciation for structure, he said, and even today, he continues to value what he learned while working as a lawyer.
