"When we were growing up, bands such as Smashing Pumpkins and Radiohead appealed to us because there was never anything standard in the guitar playing," says Bloc Party's Russell Lissack. "There were always different noises and a general sense of experimentation in their music--never just one guitarist strumming a simple rhythm and another playing lead. We've never found that interesting."
