According to a recent study, nearly 40 percent of Americans who have been diagnosed with high blood pressure have the disease in check.

That's based on research found in the December issue of Hypertension: Journal of the American Heart Association, which reported that 37 percent of the 65 million Americans who have been diagnosed with high blood pressure had the disease under control in 2003 to 2004.

That's an improvement over past years, according to the Journal, which reported that from 1999 to 2000, only 29 percent of Americans had the disease under control. High blood ...
