It took 41 years for a Black head coach to lead his team to the Super Bowl, and now, for the first time, not one, but two of them will be on the sidelines.
Good friends Lovie Smith and Tony Dungy will briefly become foes when the Chicago Bears face the Indianapolis Colts this Sunday at Super Bowl XLI in Miami.
Smith, the 2005 NFL Coach of the Year, became the first Black head coach to make it all the way to the NFL's marquee game when his Chicago Bears won the NFC championship against the New Orleans Saints 39-14.
