Q. We want to visit battle sites in Normandy after a trip to Scotland. What's the most economical way to get there, and how can we find hotels in Caen, France? _ S.T., Danville, Calif.
A. It's relatively cheap to fly from Edinburgh to Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris. We found one-way advance-purchase fares starting at 12 pounds (about $24, plus taxes and fees) on low-cost carrier BMI Airlines (www.flybmi.com). Air France and British Airways fly the same route starting at 48 pounds (about $95) each way.
