Feb. 10--PEORIA -- Glideaway Bed Carriage Manufacturing Co. will cease operating at its Peoria plant next week, putting 45 full-time employees out of work, the plant manager said Thursday.
The company, a division of Fredman Brothers Furniture, has decided to consolidate its bed frame manufacturing operations at its plant in St. Louis, where the division is based, said Harry Morgenstern.
The employees of the Peoria plant, a mainstay since 1959 and housed at 908 SW Washington St., will be offered severance packages, based partly on longevity, Morgenstern said. Some of the employees have worked at Glideaway more than 30 years, ...
