REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 30, 1994--Nintendo of America Inc. Wednesday announced that first-week, nationwide sales of its revolutionary 16-bit video game, Donkey Kong Country, exceeded 500,000 units.

As a result, the video game grossed more than $30 million over the Thanksgiving holiday week -- outpacing the Thanksgiving tallies of the nation's Number One movie, The Santa Clause, at $27.4 million. On average, Donkey Kong Country has sold at the rate of one game per second since its launch on Nov. 21.(1)
